The Low Emission Steel Standard was presented for the first time on 22 April 2024 at the Hannover Messe. Work is currently underway to establish a system owner based in Brussels as an independent organisation (legal form: AISBL) to manage the label. Work is also underway to set up a certification system with TÜV NORD and DNV. Other certifiers will follow.

The first certifications are expected to be possible from the third quarter of 2024.
